Welcome to the Nunivak Transport Page
My name is Edward I Kiokun an Alaska Native Cupig to Nunivak Island, a culture that has been dated as far as 3,000 years ago. I have 22 years of experience traveling and hunting on and around this island.
This is currently my sixth year of operation as a musk ox transporter on Nunivak Island. (As you may know a transporter does not assist in any type of guiding or processing of game.) Just to give you a little background on me, I Commercial fished for halibut for 15 years, so I own an ocean worthy boat and I also hold a 100 ton USCG merchant mariners certificate. I grew up with a subsistence life style, which means I am constantly roaming this whole island ocean and land gathering food for my family.
If you have drawn a fall musk ox permit, the mode of transport will either be on All Terrain Vehicle or on my 28’ Ocean Boat. If you have drawn a winter musk ox the mode of transport will be on a Snowmobile, so dress warm.
